A Quick Easter Giveaway!

I couldn't sleep again last night...a common thing for me.  Since I cannot just sit there, I saw some Easter embellishments I had pulled out when I made my tags for the Red Lead swap & decided to make a little Easter matchbox.
The little resin bunnies are definitely in love...all surrounded by pretty posies.

There is a resin Happy Easter egg on the top of the little matchbox, too.

You've seen this little charm in a previous post about my Spring Flowers swap...and I added one of these to the giveaway.
For the third item in the giveaway, I added this sweet vintage Easter card...given to me in 1957.  I'll probably throw in some of my yummy hand dyed ribbons, too, as a little bonus.

Since there's not much time until Easter, this giveaway will be limited to players in the USA.  To win, you just need to comment on this post & tell me one of your favorite Easter memories.  My fondest Easter memory is of coloring eggs with my Dad...Mom would hard cook the eggs & then one evening, Bob & I would "help" Dad dye the eggs.  We always used that oil based egg color kit, where you dropped the colors onto the surface of cold water, then took a toothpick & swirled them around for a marble effect.  Then you bent the little wire that supported the egg as it was slowly lowered into the bowl of water, dragging it through the colors as it went under the surface.  Then you had to blow to get any remaining dye off the water where you were pulling up the egg...and you had a little swirled marble-effect Easter Egg for the bunny to hide.  It was 1950s suburbia at it's finest.

You only have through Saturday night to enter.  Whenever I get up on Sunday, I'll assign a number to each comment & pick a winner.  I will announce the winner here on Sunday & also email the winner so he or she can send me their mailing address & I'll get the prize in the mail on Monday via USPS First Class.

I'm really looking forward to reading your Easter memories...and feel free to tell others about this giveaway...the more the merrier.

  1. My fav Easter memory was waking up one year to a HUGE basket full of awesome stuff! I was about 10 at the time. :)

  2. My favorite Easter memory isn't from when I was small but when my son was, we were coloring eggs, he must have been around three or so and wanted to do the coloring all by himself. Except his little hands couldn't quite get the hang of holding the egg in a holder and dropped EVERY one. LOL. We knew which ones were his when we peeled the egg to reveal the color on the inside also!

  3. Hello, I'm in Canada, a Red Lead Customer, (that's how I ended up here), and just wanted to say that I love your Easter Assemblage!
Very creative, and adorable! And the sleeping thing seems to be a common thread with we artists:) :) :)
    Have a happy one:)

  4. Not a fave, but certainly most memorable: at age 7, I made the "most beautiful" deep purple egg for my aunt, only to drop it as I was going down the stairs to deliver it. I was devastated even though she told me it was still beautiful! Thanks for the chance to win these wonderful goodies!

  5. One year I had a friend spend the night and when we got up the next morning and put on our pretty Easter dresses, we found a dusting of snow outside.

  6. Your matchbox reminds me of the sugar eggs with the Easter scenes inside them. I remember getting these each year with my mom and being mesmerized by the what was inside. However, I think my fondest memory of Easter is the year my mom made me a purple print jersey dress. Then, she rolled my hair the night before Easter and combed it out in the morning - we even have a picture somewhere of her doing that. It had to be the mid-70's and I just thought I was the coolest. Happy Easter, Kitten!

  7. My favorite memory is opening my bedroom door and finding the easter basket! Except when the bunny over slept or forgot! That happened a few times and we still tease the Easter Bunny about that. :p

  8. One year I decided to get the adults hunting for eggs and put change inside some colorful plastic eggs for them to find. Everyone had a wonderful time and since then (1995), it has became a family tradition.

  9. Kitten, I love your creativity. Easter and spring are some of my favorite things to work with. A very wonderful memory is when I was about nine and my sister and I went out to hunt eggs in our PJs on Easter morning, we noticed a gold square in the lawn. We couldn't imagine what it was. Later on we each found a golden egg hidden in the yard with the rest of the eggs. We figured that the easter bunny sprayed them gold right before he hid them. After church and at my cousins house later that day, I noticed that my mother's right pointer finger was gold on the end. All day I wondered about that golden fingertip. I asked my Mom if she was the Easter Bunny. Of course she denied it and said the Easter Bunny could not spray the eggs because of his paws so he woke her up to help him paint the golden eggs. I don't think I really believed that but I never let on to my little sister what I saw.

  10. I loved coloring the Easter eggs, but I especially liked getting a new Easter outfit with little white gloves and shoes and usually matched my older sister.

  11. I loved Easter and my basket was always in the middle of the dining room table on Easter morning. But my biggest memory was when I hard boiled (or so I thought) and decorated an egg for my Mother and had it in my pocket to give to her. Well, my hand hit it - and it wasn't hard boiled and boy was my dress a mess. A lot of laughs on that one.

  13. Hmm...my artist brother and I got more and more competitive in the egg dying department over the years as we were growing up. I can still do a mean full color rainbow egg. Favorite candy: the maple cream egg. Although the cherry had a certain day-glo charm. I'm from the ArtCharms group, and I looooove your flower charm!!!

  14. I guess my favorite memories of Easter would be attending Easter Sunrise Service with my family. It would be dark when we arrived and as we celebrated Jesus' resurrection, the sun would slowly rise. Just lovely! And coming home to brightly colored Easter baskets full of goodies, yummy!

  15. Oh how I loved discovering my Easter basket filled to the brim with goodies! I especially loved picking out and eating all the black jelly beans first, and biting off the ears of my chocolate bunny! Some things never change... I still do both of these things! Thanks for a fun giveaway!

  16. When my son was 10, he and his sister had a lot of competition looking for chocolate eggs in the yard and house. He climbed up on the wood pile, viewed an egg, and jumped off to get it before his sister. We spent the rest of the dayin the ER getting his foot x-rayed and casted as he broke his foot. Needless to say, his sister won the egg hunt that year!

  17. Hi Debbie! Such a sweet give-away-!! My most favorite Easter memories are hunting for Easter eggs when I was little. I can remember the big Easter egg hunt our town always had and it was such a thrill to run out when they said 'go' and see how many I could find! I always had fun finding eggs in our house too (the Easter bunny must have gotten cold easily so he would hide them in our living room!)

    Happy Easter to you,
    Tami

  18. Hey Girl! What a wonderful fun giveaway you have here...I just had to enter! The momories that most stick out in my mind of Easters past were getting a "bouffant" hair-do like I was 30 and actually getting all prettied up in a dress! Yes, I said DRESS! LOL!

Hoping everyone has a wonderful Easter!

  19. Whoops...my comment didn't post so I'll try again....
One of my cherished childhood memories is that of my mother sewing three matching Easter dresses for my sisters and myself. They were always poofy dresses with lots of frills and lace. We'd have new gloves and hats to match! After church services we'd come home to a big Sunday dinner and Easter egg hunt. One year my dad kept insisting that we hadn't found all the eggs and treats...we searched high and low until it was discovered that our dog had been eating whatever he could find!! That was one sick dog!
