Remembering my dear friend, Kimber

I know I haven't posted in awhile, but a couple weeks ago I got devastating news.  My dear friend, Kimber, died suddenly...just before her 55th birthday.  While Kimber & I never met face to face, we've been friends for about 10 years through on line groups & email.  I don't know the details of how she died, but it seems she went quickly & hopefully with no pain.

I had just sent her birthday present...a hand bound journal & washi tapes...and it even arrived the day before her birthday for a change.  The box was still on her front porch when her brother found her Tuesday night.  She never even got to open her gifts.

Kimber was also an artist & I have many pieces she made for me in my studio.  I think of her each time I see these works of art.  I miss her so much & while I know the pain will lessen over time, it's so sad that such a bright creative light has been extinguished so soon.

Her blog, A Journey in Creativity, is still on line if you care to see some of her creative adventures.  The self portrait above is from her blog.

Kimber touched so many people with her art & friendship...she will certainly be missed by so many people.  Rest in peace, dear friend...rest in peace.

  4. Debbie, how devastating. I know that Kimber's art has crossed my path in swaps at some point, so I will try to go back and see if it was the year of inchies, ATC swaps, or another route. Seems as though here inchies adorn my large canvas.
Many of us have formed those sweet friendships on line, and would be feeling the confusion you probably feel now if it happened to us. I would feel that way if it were you! I wish I could help you.

  5. Hugs to you, dear friend. Kimber was such a kind, generous, and talented person. I hope she's a peace - maybe curled up with a purring Sophie Cat...

  10. I meant to say, she wrote the most beautiful post about what she had received from me. It must have taken a long time to post 23 pictures with writing but she was that kind of person. So sweet and appreciative - I am so glad I got to know her and am sorry for your loss as well.

  11. Thank you for not only letting us know Debbie but for writing such a beautiful post in Kimber's honor. She was so kind and I am blessed to have "met" her as well. Funny how people I have never actually met in person can become so dear to me but I am so grateful for it!!
